“Join for more energy.”: Fronius and the Energy Revolution

Event

6/22/2023
Fronius recently attended Intersolar 2023 and took the opportunity to highlight the importance of working together for the energy revolution, in line with the trade fair’s slogan “Join for more energy.” The event focused on areas in which working together with partners could help to drive the transition, such as developing innovative solutions, boosting value creation in Europe, and providing exceptional service and support.
Large numbers of attendees accepted the invitation to “Join for more energy.” and visited the Fronius stands in the Intersolar and Power2Drive areas, covering almost 700 m2 of exhibition space, where they were provided with up-to-date information on the latest products, premium service and support, and key trends the company is focusing on.

Fronius GEN24 and Fronius GEN24 Plus
There were also some exciting innovations on show in the inverter segment. The Fronius GEN24 Plus hybrid inverter has established itself as a flagship product in the company’s portfolio. Now, in addition to this, there is an even more cost-effective version available for setting up a Fronius GEN24 PV system. The battery and the device's Full Backup feature can be activated subsequently via the Fronius UP software. This reduces the complexity and lowers investment costs when purchasing a PV system, with the option of implementing an upgrade at any time. That means maximum flexibility, maximum autonomy and maximum future compatibility, all from a single source.

The Outstanding Fronius Wattpilot
The Fronius Wattpilot, which received the GERMAN INNOVATION AWARD 2023 just a few weeks before the trade fair, also generated a lot of interest. The jury was particularly impressed with the smart charging features, which enable the Wattpilot to use surplus energy from the house’s own PV system and to use the most sustainable and cheapest energy. Visitors to the trade fair all agreed that the charging station's updated design and optimized IP features perfectly complemented the existing features, such as Plug’n‘Play compatibility.

Manufacturing Increasing Despite Turbulent Times
Availability, capacities, growth: All of these are key themes that came up time and again in discussions at Intersolar 2023. Fronius outlined a clear path forward here, announcing plans to massively expand its production capacity, in order to counteract disruptions to component availability going forward. As well as doubling the production space in Sattledt, Fronius worked with a partner to set up an additional production line for the Fronius GEN24 Plus at the partner location in Hungary. “On one hand, this will enable us to boost value creation for our products in Europe. On the other hand, it will also allow us to hugely increase our capacities within a short space of time. This step will also secure the availability of our products in the long term. All in all, these expansion measures will increase our production by 65 % from 32,000 inverters per month to more than 52,000 devices,” summarizes Martin Hackl, Global Director Marketing and Sales, Business Unit Solar Energy, Fronius International GmbH.

Thirty Years of Sustainability in Practice
A visit to the Fronius stand made it clear that the electronics industry and sustainability can go hand in hand. “Sustainability is firmly embedded in our organization as a corporate value, and this extends to all of our solutions, services and decisions,” explains Leonhard Peböck, Product Marketing, Business Unit Solar Energy, Fronius International GmbH. He goes on to add: “At the product level, this is reflected in the fact that 95% of businesses in our value chain are European, as well as the high level of reparability and extensive range of digital services we offer.” Fronius has lived and breathed sustainability for 30 years, something which is demonstrated in a range of studies conducted in conjunction with independent institutions. Peböck presented the results in Munich: “For example, a PV system with the Fronius GEN24 Plus offsets 500 metric tonnes of CO2 over the course of 20 years—the equivalent to the emissions from 469 flights from Vienna to New York. Overall, the environmental benefit of a system like this exceeds the ecological production cost by up to 45 times. Clear evidence that Fronius inverters not only produce sustainable energy, but also that they are setting new standards as electronic devices.”

Support in the digital life cycle
We are there for our partners every step of the way. The digital life cycle enables us to provide our installers around the world with the best possible support, from the first product overview to initial project planning through to monitoring and troubleshooting in the event of a service. We provide our partners with tools to help them in their day-to-day work and, at the same time, we also want to understand which tools are still needed. Thanks to the digital life cycle, we can tailor the existing tools more effectively to our partners’ challenges, create new solutions and offer a holistic, digital concept for the entire life cycle of your photovoltaic system.

Looking to the Future Together
With a combination of future-proof products, smart service offerings and sustainability in practice, Fronius demonstrated at Intersolar 2023 how working together can help make the energy revolution a success, in line with the slogan “Join for more energy.” “Once again this year, we are delighted to have been able to welcome so many visitors, partners and installers to our stand. The amount of interest shown in the opportunities to help us shape the energy revolution is confirmation that we are on the right path, which we intend to continue pursuing in the second half of 2023. Growing staff numbers and production capacities will be complemented by even more exciting innovations and we are already looking forward to presenting these at the next Intersolar,” sums up Martin Hackl, with an optimistic outlook for the future.
